Wrightmommy's Blog

Before I get started, I want you to know the situation that I am in. I am married to a Vietnam and Gulf War vet. My 2 brother-in-laws are Vietnam Vets. One of them died 3 years ago after YEARS of suffering with agent orange.
That being said I want to ask a question in response to alot of the blogs that I have seen. So what if the military targets the people that haven't had the blessing to get very far in their education? Doesn't the army offer to help them with their education? There are many perks to joining the military. I know that they would be going off to war. But that proves my point that I have been trying to make all along...
*It takes a true Man/Woman to go to war and fight to help others. Fight for what they believe in. Put their lives on the line just to free one more person. It takes a sissy to sit in the comfort of your nice, safe home and complain about it. And insult the very people that fought to keep your home nice and safe. Fought for your freedoms. *
Kerry and the rest of the senators out there... Do you think you are to good to go and fight? From what I am understanding, you are the very sissys' that I am talking about. You are to busy insulting everyone. And this election isn't helping. Its all about trashing the president. Basically you are a pile of scum if you support Bush. Well you know what? We might have gone there under lies. And it may not look like it from the pictures that you have seen and the stories that you have heard, but we have helped ALOT of people over there. I have talked to iraqi citizens. They are thankful that we have gone over there. If we were being terrorized by our leader like the iraqi people were, wouldn't you hope that someone would try and help? That is what we have done. Sadam was a dictator and innocent people were suffering for it. We are trying to help. So I will say again. It takes a true man/woman to be in the military. It takes a sissy to insult the ones that are

I can understand why you have your opinion and that is because you are still living in the Vietnam War days. These are new days and things are quite different. Me personally, I would never go to war to fight for a country that didn't fight for me. They could over me whatever and I still wouldn't go. Just my opinion. How can there be a positive outcome on something that was built on lies. While their over there building their country up, we still have Katrina. Yes, the Army is offering them these things as an incentive if they ever make it out. My comments are not complaints, I consider me as just being aware of my surroundings. Also, saying these people were poor and uneducated are not insults, they are facts.

Yep, and I am sure that the soldiers appreciate people from their own country saying these rude and ignorant things about them. If you have these views, you should keep them to yourself. And that is being said to everyone that keeps saying these things. These soldiers need love and support. Not insults

I have love for them. I am not blaming the soldiers and am blaming the ones that are targeting specific groups. Everyone that said that they were about to go to college but made the choice to join the military, never once stated that they were recruited. It's a difference in choice when you have other great opportunities.

There's no such thing as a free lunch. If someone told me, "hey, joing the Army, and you'll qualify for an interest free housing loan." It's painfully obvious that the loan is contingent on me serving in the Army.

Just an aside for Destany. The training in the military is top-notch. Of course, I'm a bit prejudiced because I was a Navy Master Training Specialist! :) If some kids can get training and the associated college credits, what is wrong with it? The military is a combat organization, don't tell me folks don't understand that. But many undereducated young adults score so low they don't qualify for combat arms and end up as cooks, etc. I was never a recruiter, so I will qualify this post. Just my experience (during the draft and all-volunteer force) since 1972.
